A Matter Of Time For Tiger

Tiger Woods stormed back with a final round 67 to win the AT&T National (yes, his own tournament) on Sunday. A lot of analysts, golf fans, and everyone in-between are going to say that its just another meaningless tournament and Woods’ win doesn’t really mean that much. These people have no idea what they’re talking about.

Woods has three wins since returning to competetive play this year: the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Memorial, and now the AT&T National. None of these are majors, and when we think about Tiger we tend to only think in terms of majors. But each of these wins has shown something important about Tiger. His sheer dominance at the Memorial showed he can still drive it long and hit the fairways, and his last round play at the AT&T (and even at the US Open, where he shot a final-round 69) shows that he still has that Sunday charge that has defined his career.
So Tiger has tied for 6th at the Masters and the US Open, and hasn’t looked like he’s really been that close to winning a major…but no worries, his other performances have shown its nothing to worry about. Some days in golf you just don’t have it, sometimes a course is just playing tough. Tiger has shown that he still has every tool he did before his knee surgery. He has the length and accuracy off the drive, he has the short game and the putting, and he can still come through in the clutch.
The fact is Tiger still has the skills and the game, he just hasn’t had “it” at the majors so far this year. Make no mistake, its only a matter of time until Tiger takes home number 15.
